Hi.
i am running a MacOs 11.4 with a Deskjet 1510.
i have been trying to scan & print using HP Smart (ver 12.7.1) but it seems the device is not recognized (see screenshot below). i tried different driver versions and to scan with other software like Photoshop to no avail.

Hi @Odenski,
I'd like to help!
The Deskjet 1510 on mac 11.4 does not support HP Smart.
Please try and Install HP Easy Start
Also, check printer connectivity -
Try updating mac and printer firmware
To update the printer's firmware, refer - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
To update Mac, try these steps - How to update the software on your Mac
Try the below suggestions-
Make sure the cable is directly connected between the Mac and the printer.
The use of a USB hub is not recommended.
Also, make sure the cable is connected to a USB 2.0 port on your Mac
Do you have an Anti-virus/firewall installed on the Mac? If yes, disable the same for time being.
- System Information is not located in the Applications folder it is in the Utility folder.
- The Utility folder is inside the Applications folder.
- You can also hold down the option key and click on the Apple at the top left of the screen to get to System Information
- Click System Report.
- Under the Hardware heading on the left side of the System Information window, click USB. USB 3 devices appear under USB 3.0 Bus, and USB 2 devices appear under USB 2.0 Bus. The printer should be under the USB 2.0 Bus
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you for your reply.
i downloaded an opened HP easy start from the link you have provided.
i saw that HP smart app recognized the printer.
when i tried to continue i got to the screen (see below) that forced me to download HP Smart to continue as i saw no other option.
this is what happened to me before, moving me to work with HP Smart (which also confusingly presented to me that it recognizes the device yet did not respond), but this time i just gave up and tried to close the entire window. after i did i was surprised to see the installation flow continues and i was able to complete the installation of the Easy start app.
now it works! thank you.
i would highly recommend fixing the UX (add skip button) to the screen that forces the customer to install HP smart.
