Deskjet 2724
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have bought a Deskjet 2724 to help me work at home. My company IT dept will not allow the HP software to install due to firewall restrictions. They will also not allow WIFI printing. I have connected the printer to the computer with a USB cable.

The IT dept are unable to find a suitable driver to allow basic printing and scanning functions to work on this printer, it is sure;ly possible without having to download the HP software?! If I cannot get a driver to use it I will have to return it to the shop.

I have been able to print from my phone using the app. It seems that HP are only interested in this these days, which is disappointing.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

HP Smart can be used with USB, are you able to download that from the Microsoft store?

This resource (example) will show you how to install and use USB:

Hope that helps!

Many thanks for the reply. The issue is that the printer will only work by downloading the HP Smart sortware, not simply a driver. My company IT dept will not inatll this software so, unlike other printers that supply a driver only, HP insist on making you use their software.

On recommendation of my IT dept I have returned the printer and bought a Cannon alternative for which just a driver is available. HP should understand that not everyone can, or will want, to use their software. Anyway, a lost sale for HP and a win for Cannon from me.

I hope this helps others.
