Hello @StephieH76, Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP Deskjet 2942 All-in-One Printer.
We appreciate the opportunity to assist you and are glad we could help work toward a resolution. We hope our support has been valuable.
You likely need to use the printer’s advanced settings (page size, scaling, and duplex options). If those options are missing or limited in Windows 11, follow these steps to restore them, then adjust your print settings for the pattern.
1. Fix missing advanced print settings in Windows 11
- Make sure your DeskJet 2942 is turned on and connected to your computer.
- On Windows 11, search for and open Printers & scanners.
- Click your HP Deskjet 2942 in the list.
- Click Remove → Yes.
- Back in Printers & scanners, click Add device. - When your printer appears, click Add device and wait for Windows to install the latest drivers.
- If advanced settings are still missing, go to 123.hp.com and install the recommended HP drivers.
This should restore options like paper size, color, and other advanced print controls for your printer.
2. Set up double‑sided and layout options (if needed)
When printing the PDF pattern:
- Open your PDF and choose File > Print.
- Select your HP Deskjet 2942 printer.
- Click Printer Properties, Preferences, or Printer Setup.
- In the Properties window: - If there is a Printing Shortcut tab, check options there. - If not, look under Layout, Features, or Finishing.
- Turn Print on Both Sides off if you want single‑sided printing (this helps avoid confusion with margins while you’re testing).
- Make sure the paper size matches your pattern (often Letter or A4) and that any scaling options in the PDF viewer (like “Fit” or “Actual size”) are set as your pattern instructions require.
