deskjet 3762

Hi, I changed network in my home and I'm trying to setup the printer (Deskjet 3762) to connect to the new network.

Issue is that this printer is locked by ad admin password which I never setup and this unknown password prevents to setup the new connection.

What is this password and how to reset it or at least know what it is? The EWS server suggest to contact my IT manager, which is funny, because this is a private press and there is no IT manager anywhere

Hi @IvanC64,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When dealing with an HP DeskJet 3762 that has an unknown admin password preventing you from setting up a new network connection, you can try resetting the printer to its factory settings. This process typically clears all settings, including any admin passwords, and allows you to set up the printer from scratch. Here’s how you can do it:

Step 1: Factory Reset the Printer

Turn on the Printer:

  • Ensure the printer is powered on.

Restore Network Settings:

  • Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons on the printer's control panel at the same time for 3 seconds. This should reset the network settings.

Full Factory Reset:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Press and hold the Power button.
  • While holding the Power button, press the Wireless and Cancel buttons.
  • Continue holding all three buttons for about 20 seconds, then release them.
  • This should initiate a factory reset.

Step 2: Reconnect the Printer to Your New Network

Install the HP Smart App:

  • Download and install the HP Smart app on your smartphone or computer if you haven’t already.

Set Up the Printer:

  • Open the HP Smart app and follow the on-screen instructions to set up a new printer.
  • When prompted, connect the printer to your new Wi-Fi network.

Step 3: Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Find the Printer’s IP Address:

  • After connecting the printer to the new network, you need its IP address. You can print a network configuration page to find it:
    • Press the Information button on the printer’s control panel to print the configuration page.

Access EWS:

  • Open a web browser on your computer and type the printer’s IP address in the address bar.
  • This will open the Embedded Web Server (EWS) of your printer.

Set New Admin Password:

  • Once in the EWS, navigate to the Network or Security settings.
  • You should be able to set a new admin password or remove the existing one.

Step 4: Reconfigure Printer Settings

  1. Reconfigure Network Settings:
    • Use the EWS or HP Smart app to reconfigure any other network or printer settings as needed.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
