Just upgraded to Windows 7 64bit and my HP 970CSE refuses to work with it. I suspect the driver. It
was working fine with XP Pro.

Doesn't help. When I select print, it sends a command to the printer and the printer does nothing. The printer won't even turn
on. I have to turn it on manually. It worked perfect with XP Pro, so I suspect the driver Windows 7 selects is no good.

Disconnected the printer, removed the printer along with the driver in the control pannel. Reconnected the printer and turned it on. It reloaded the driver and I printed a test page and IT WORKS!!!! Thanks for your help!!!

I tried all the steps listed above. Still no help. Tried the 'manual install method'. I tried the 'manual install' method as described here, http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01796821 but my 970CSE printer does not appear in the dropdown list of printers! Just did a 'Windows update' as well. I am running 64-bit Windows 7 Enterprise on a brand new T410 Lenovo laptop. So, I am stuck
