I have recently been given an old HP Deskjet F4580 printer but no installation CD which I believe would have been supplied when the printer was purchased.
It works when connected via a USB cable using a generic driver but will not connect to my WiFi network using WPS. Also I cannot access any utilities such as print head alignment, etc. I have searched endlessly on the web and through this forum but none of the suggested connection methods work. It is, of course, now 'obsolete' and no longer supported by HP.
I am reluctant to consign the printer to the bin as I hate throwing away items which are capable of working and it would solve a problem for me.
Any ideas please?

UPDATE -
I found a download for the original installation software which took me through establishing the wireless connection to the printer via a USB connection to my laptop. Success!
It seems that the HP Printer Assistant and HP Solutions are no longer supported for printer management but accessing the printer properties via 'Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Devices and Printers' and then right clicking on the printer to select properties, etc. gives me access to all the settings and utilities. Not ideal but useable.

@FerRX Thanks for the input.
I wonder if I should stick with what I've got for the time being - it's working. The only issue that I have is that I have a 'ghost' printer appearing occasionally, HP F4530. I think that I tried the driver for this printer when I was initially clutching at straws but I cannot find it anywhere on my system so can't get rid of it!
UPDATE: My fault - some documents stuck in the print spooler from when I was trying other options to install the printer. Deleted and the drivers for the F4530 deleted.
Loads of other silly issues still with this printer. It is so old that these will never be easily resolved. It is OK for some basic printing tasks but when I have used up the ink I'll ditch it and put this down to a 'useful exercise'!
