Hi @David2115,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see there is an issue with the Hp smart app. May I know are you using genuine HP ink cartrdiegs?
If your HP DeskJet 2700e printer's PIN is not recognized by the HP Smart app during setup, here are some steps you can try:
Check the PIN Location: Ensure you are entering the correct PIN, which is typically located inside the ink cartridge access area of your printer. Some users might overlook this and enter an incorrect PIN.
Wi-Fi Direct Password: If you're attempting to connect through Wi-Fi Direct and facing PIN issues, you might try using a default password. HP suggests trying "12345678" as the default Wi-Fi Direct password if the app prompts for a PIN and you encounter issues.
Reset Printer Network Settings: To resolve issues related to invalid PIN messages, HP recommends resetting your printer's network settings. Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button simultaneously for three seconds to reset the network settings. This action might help in cases where the printer is not properly connecting to the network or the HP Smart app.
Reinstall HP Smart App: Sometimes, the issue could be with the HP Smart app itself. Try uninstalling and then reinstalling the HP Smart app on your device. This can resolve issues caused by software glitches or updates.
Use WPS for Connection: If your router supports WPS and you continue to face issues with the HP Smart app, consider using WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) to connect your printer to the wireless network. Press the WPS button on your router and then the Wireless button on your printer for a seamless connection.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
