I have just installed the new Printer Software and it deleted all my old apps including the one I used for Scanning (a picture of a scanner). I can access the scan function by opening HP Smart but it is a pain when I used to be able to click once and there it was.

Is this what I have to put up with now or is there a way of getting a one click app just for the scanner?

Hi @Grayham127

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you

Due to the current global COVID-19 situation, we're seeing an influx of customers coming in for support. We appreciate your patience.

While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:

  • Click the Search icon on your operating system, type Scan into the search bar,
  • from the shown results right-click on Scan To and select Open File Location.
  • Right-click on Scanto.exe and select Send to > Desktop,
  • it will create a shortcut for the scanning software on your desktop.

If you don't have a software, please install the full-feature drivers for your printer from software and drivers page

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
