I installed this printer. After the install, my computer would not boot up. I did a system restore and then reinstalled the printer. Now I am afraid to turn off computer. What do I do if this happens again???
Thank you for your replies

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂
I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
As I understand the desktop didn't boot into windows after installing the printer unless you did a system restore,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
How did you install the printer? was it using the printer disc or the HP website?
Have you updated the BIOS and the printer firmware to ensure there aren't any conflicts?
(Click here to find and install the BIOS & Click here for printer firmware, if you haven't done it yet)
While you respond to that, here's what i recommend you do:
If you are not able to install the printer software, use the below steps:
Step 1: Restart the computer
Restart the computer, so that the print spooler service restarts.
Step 2: Make sure the print spooler service is running
The print spooler service temporarily stores files to be printed in a print queue and doles them out when the printer is ready to process each print job. If the print spooler service is not running when you try to install the printer software, it can cause installation problems where the software installer program stops without an error message or warning.
Restart the print spooler.
-
Search Windows for view local services, and then click the View local services control panel setting in the list of results.
-
Find the service named Print Spooler, and then make sure the print spooler status is Started.

-
If the print spooler service is started, skip to the step to install the printer software in this document.
-
If the print spooler is not started, continue to the next step.
-
-
Right-click Print Spooler, and then click Properties.
-
If the Startup type is set to Manual or Disabled, click the drop-down list, click Automatic, and then click Apply.
-
Under Service status, click Start, and then click OK.
-
Restart the computer again. When the computer restarts, continue to the next step.
Step 3: Install the printer software
If you were using the printer CD and were unable to install the software, download and install the latest software for your printer.
-
Go to 123.hp.com/laserjet.
-
Double-click the driver file with HP Easy Start in the name in the browser downloads bar or in the Downloads folder to start the installation.

-
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the connection setup and driver installation.
-
Return to the 123.hp.com page webpage to complete the printer registration and activation.
