Hello. I am trying to set up digital fax for our HP printer.  I was able to go through the setup through the advanced settings and look at fax settings.  However, when testing, the fax shows it is successful, but it does not show up in the assigned folder.  The folder was shared to all and the printer shows that it is set up when scrolling on the screen on the actual printer.  What do I need to check to get the fax to show up in the designated folder?

Hi @Jobeka,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To troubleshoot the issue with your digital fax setup on your HP printer, here are some steps you can take.

Check Folder Permissions:

  • Make sure that the folder you've designated for receiving faxes has the correct permissions set up. Even though you've shared it with all users, ensure that the printer has the necessary access rights to write files to that folder.

Confirm Folder Path:

  • Verify that the folder path you've specified in the printer settings is correct. Even a small typo in the path can prevent the fax from being saved in the designated folder.

Network Connectivity:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to the network. If there are any network issues, it might not be able to save the fax to the shared folder.

Firewall and Security Software:

  • Check if there are any firewall or security settings that might be blocking the printer's access to the shared folder. Adjust the settings accordingly to allow the printer to write files to the folder.

Test with Different File Types:

  • Try sending a test fax with different file types (e.g., PDF, TIFF) to see if the issue is specific to a certain file format.

Update Printer Firmware/Software:

  • Ensure that your printer's firmware and software are up to date. Sometimes, updates can fix bugs or compatibility issues that might be causing the problem.

Restart Printer and Network Devices:

  • Try restarting both your printer and network devices (routers, switches, etc.). Sometimes, a simple reboot can resolve connectivity issues.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue preventing your HP printer from saving faxes to the designated folder.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
