HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e All-in-One Printer

How do you disable the Cartridge Policy on the Officejet Pro 8028 printer?  I have read about the 2019 lawsuit against HP which forced them to allow customers to use ink cartridges that were NOT HP, however I have also read that they make it VERY hard to figure out how to do that.  I have already disabled the Cartridge Preferences but it still didn't work.  [edit]

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you. 

 

I see that you have an issue using non-HP ink cartridges on your printer.

A) Please follow the steps below to fix the issue.

 

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

 

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

 

C) If the issue still persists, refer to the below for more information related to Dynamic security.

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Supplies > Supply Settings > Cartridge Protection = OFF or ON

 

The Cartridge Protection feature allows cartridges to be permanently protected for use in only one fleet of products or product to help prevent theft. If, after cartridges have been protected, they are moved to a device outside the fleet (fleet based) or to a different printer (printer based), these cartridges will be identified as protected and will have to be replaced to continue printing.

 

If you are using generic or Non HP ink cartridges and the above steps do not help. You will have to contact the generic ink cartridge manufacturer to assist you further with it or you will have to use genuine HP ink cartridges to resume printing.
