HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdn

My printer is an HP Laser Jet MFP M227 fdn, product number G3Q79A.  it is 10 years old and the warranty expired two years ago. My problem is that the display screen is dark and the power button, which normally flashes inter, now displays a solid green. Troubleshooting could not identify the problem.

Hi @JBJ28,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP LaserJet MFP M227fdn is experiencing a display issue. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem:

Troubleshooting Steps

Perform a Power Reset:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can help reset the printer's internal system.

Check for Error Messages:

  • If the display lights up briefly, check for any error messages or codes. If it doesn’t light up at all, proceed to the next step.

Inspect the Connections:

  • Ensure all cables (power and data) are securely connected. If using a USB or network connection, try a different cable or port.

Inspect for Overheating:

  • Make sure the printer is in a well-ventilated area. Overheating can sometimes cause display issues.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • If you can access the printer's web interface (via IP address), check for firmware updates that might resolve display issues.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the printer from any network or computer connections.
  • With the printer powered on, press and hold the Go button (the button with the arrow) for about 10 seconds, then release it.

Examine the Display:

  • If the display is still dark, gently press around the edges of the screen to see if it responds. This could indicate a loose connection internally.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
