HP OfficeJet Pro 8022e All-in-One Printer

Hello!

Was forced to reinstall driver and software. This failed, installation starts (asking for model, PIN) but after a while it hangs, animation gets lost. I found a file, C:\Temp\HP\PDSMQ\Pdsmq.Data.txt which points to try to obtain something from HP website,[edited] which delivers 404. By time stamp matching losing animation.

So installation fails due replaced or removed items on web space.

My intention is scanning. APP and HP-Smart (as well as WIN native program) can fully communicate, but interfaces are more than only non-comfortable. That’s why I’d like to get driver + software to run, getting back more useful interface to scanning.

Does exist a complete offline installer, and may it be not last version?

Markus

Hi @Markus_Erich

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for explaining the situation so clearly. It’s genuinely frustrating when a reinstall fails and leaves you without access to the full scanning interface you’re used to.

Fortunately, there is a solution that can help restore full functionality.

Download the Full Offline Installer for HP OfficeJet Pro 8022e

HP provides a Full Feature Software and Driver package that includes the HP Scan utility and Printer Assistant—both of which offer a more complete and comfortable interface for scanning.

You can download it directly from HP’s official support page:

HP OfficeJet Pro 8022e – Full Software and Driver Package

Installation Tips

  • Disconnect the printer from your computer before starting the installation.
  • Run the installer as administrator (right-click > Run as administrator).
  • Avoid using VPN during download or installation.
  • If the installer hangs again, try downloading the package using a different browser or network.

If You Prefer an Older Version

While HP typically only hosts the latest version, some users have had success by selecting an older operating system (like Windows 7 or 😎 on the same page to access legacy installers. These versions may include more traditional interfaces.

If you'd like help walking through the installation or verifying the setup afterward, I’d be glad to assist. Just let me know what you'd prefer.

Hello Hawks_Eye,

let me shorten it to a status I’m ready with last or an earlier driver software version.
›disconnect printer‹, so I turned off WLAN and launched installer (as admin, of course). It searched a printer, with no success as expected, bus I can not continue. A screen says to have printer connected (and disconnect cable in case I prefer wireless), there is only a Continue button to search again for a printer. If I simply try to Continue, II get hints to connect printer. So I do so (WLAN back to work) and in an other screen I could finally click to search for my printer (as a product). Did it, found it, and indeed something began to install.

Hooray, control interface software is back 🙂 But I have had to recreate setting. A low price.

So I shall say, general hint is to start offline and continue by chose connection type and at last on mentioned screen use non very obvious link to search for a printer again after getting it re-connected before.

Best greets, Markus

Thanks for the thoughtful follow-up, @Markus_Erich

It’s great to hear you managed to get the full control interface back—even if it took a bit of creative navigation. Your insight about starting offline and then selectively reconnecting to trigger the installer’s printer search is incredibly helpful, especially for others facing similar roadblocks with HP’s setup flow.

Recreating settings is never ideal, but as you said, it’s a small price for regaining full scanning functionality. If you ever need help preserving those settings or backing up your configuration for future reinstalls, I’d be glad to assist.

Appreciate you sharing your workaround—it adds real value to the community.
