HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer - N911g

After doing a hard reset on the 8600, I am not able to get past the set up animation to install the setup ink cartridges.  Since I not longer have the cartridges, is there a way to move past this screen and use the normal HP ink cartridges?

Thanks,

Hi @dfhaywood,

Welcome to HP Support Community!

To bypass the message on the printer the only option left is to perform an OOBE reset and re-initialize the printer.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

Thank you for your response but this did not fix the issue.  When I press the return button the printer loops back to the beginning of the setup animation.  How do you break out of the loop and access the System Configuration screen?

@dfhaywood, I appreciate your patience, and I’m here to help you sort this out! Since you’ve already tried the reset instructions but are still stuck in the setup loop, let’s dig a little deeper.

1️⃣ When you perform the reset and the setup animation restarts, do you see any error messages or prompts on the screen?

2️⃣ Have you tried powering off the printer, unplugging it for a couple of minutes, and then turning it back on to see if it bypasses the loop?

3️⃣ Just to confirm, are you using genuine HP ink cartridges, and have you previously set up this printer successfully with the setup cartridges?

Let me know, and we’ll figure out the best way forward! 😊

Thank you for your response and willingness to help.

When I turn the printer on I get a screen that says:

"Setup

To set up the printer and connect to the network, touch Continue.

To view the features available on the printer, touch View Demo."

I press continue and the animation loop starts.

First it goes shows to install the duplexer and then how to install the setup cartridges. It stops at then end of the cartridge animation.

When I press the back button, it loops back to the Setup Screen.

I have powered off the printer multiple times with no affect.

I am using genuine HP ink cartridges.

Printer was set up using the initial setup cartridges when I purchased it several years ago.
