HP Officejet 5255 All In One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have tried all of the suggestions from this post without success:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printers-Archive-Read-Only/Re-documents-not-going-into-print-queue/m-p...

Let me preface this by saying the printer worked fine one day & the next it does not. I have been using this printer for a few years successfully. There have been no updates to my laptop (DELL) since early December.

  1. Which printer model do you have? HP Officejet 5255
  2. How is the printer connected (USB/ wireless/ wired/ Bluetooth)? wireless, also tried USB without success
  3. What is the Operating System of the computer? Windows 10, 64 bit
  4. Have you tested hardware functionality (made copies) and do they work successfully? yes
  5. Have you tried printing from different programs? yes
  6. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software? for 3 days! I have done this over & over. also removed from registry
  7. What Firewalls and Anti-virus software are installed? SuperAntiSpyware & MalwareBytes (been using for a decade)
  8. Have you tried disabling or uninstalling them? no, they have never been an issue before
  9. If you're running Windows, run the Print and Scan Doctor and include the results. I have run this several times. The result is there is a Driver issue and it tells me to download the latest drivers. I have done this over & over & over again for 3 days! It would be nice if it told you WHICH driver you are missing or need!
  10. Did you make any recent changes to your set up (physical move, upgrade, downgrade, new software installed, new router, etc)? No
  11. Is the printer plugged directly into the wall outlet (avoiding power bars and surge protectors)? Yes
  12. Have you completed all Windows/Mac OS Updates? Yes
  13. Have you tried using a different USB/Ethernet cable? Yes
  14. Do you see any error messages or codes, and if so, what are they saying and where do you see them? No errors or codes. The document acts like it is going to print but it never makes it to the spooler.

I have also tried stopping/starting & restarting the print spooler.

I have also tried manually adding a new port.

Lastly I right clicked on the printer from Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Devices and Printers and clicked on the Troubleshoot option. The first response was "Contact your network administrator. Windows could not fix the problem." After clicking on Next button, it does an additional check and I get this response "Troubleshooting was unable to automatically fix all of the issues found. Problems Found: Printer HP58A356 (HP Officejet 5200 series) cannot be contacted over the network. I clicked on 'View Detailed Information' and it shows me a Troubleshooting Report. Of all the potential issues checked, none were found. It continues to say Problem With Printer. So I click the Next button and it says Troubleshooting Completed.

After the above steps were completed, I went through the connection wizard again on the printer and it established a successful connection. I tried to print, still not going to the queue or printing.

Any help would be appreciated as I am at my wits end! Thanks!

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I would suggest you try the Windows built-in drivers. Follow the steps below:

•    Go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.

•    When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.

•    Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.

Refer to this document HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver for help.

Let me know if this helps.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution button, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Thanks!

Have a great day!
