Hi @Sanstub,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Smart Tank 7302 printer is not printing in color and does not provide an option for color printing, there are several potential issues that might be causing this problem. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check Printer Status and Settings:

Ensure Printer is On:

  • Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to your computer or network.

Verify Printer Settings:

  • On your computer, go to the Printers & Scanners settings (Windows) or Printers & Scanners in System Preferences (Mac).
  • Select your HP Smart Tank 7302 printer and check the print settings.
  • Ensure that Color is selected as the printing option. Look for any settings related to Color or Print in Color and make sure they are enabled.

2. Check and Install Ink Cartridges:

Verify Cartridge Installation:

  • Open the printer’s ink cartridge access door.
  • Ensure that all color ink cartridges (cyan, magenta, yellow) are installed correctly and securely. They should click into place.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Ensure that the color ink cartridges have sufficient ink. If the cartridges are low or empty, replace them with new ones.

Remove and Reinstall Cartridges:

  • Sometimes, removing and reinstalling the cartridges can help. Carefully remove each cartridge and then reinstall them, ensuring they are properly seated.

3. Clean the Printhead:

Automatic Cleaning:

  • Use the printer’s built-in cleaning function to clean the printhead. This option is usually available in the printer’s maintenance menu or through the HP Smart app.

Manual Cleaning (if needed):

  • If automatic cleaning does not resolve the issue, you can manually clean the printhead. Refer to the printer’s manual for instructions on how to clean the printhead.

4. Check Printer Software and Drivers:

Update Printer Software:

  • Ensure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app and printer drivers installed. You can download updates from the HP Support website.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Uninstall and then reinstall the printer drivers and software to ensure that all settings and configurations are correctly applied.

5. Perform a Printer Test:

Print a Test Page:

  • From the printer’s control panel or the HP Smart app, print a test page. This can help identify if the issue is related to the printer’s hardware or software.

Print a Color Document:

  • Try printing a document that requires color to see if the issue persists. Ensure that the document is set to print in color.

6. Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Update Firmware:
    • Check for any available firmware updates for your printer on the HP Support website. Firmware updates can fix bugs and improve printer functionality.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
