Only manual double side printing is available. Current settings: from HP Envy 4520 Properties menu "Device Settings": Automatic Duplexing Unit "Installed", Automatic Configuration "off". From Menu Printing Preferences, "Printing shortcut" Two-sided/Duplex Printing ==> Pring on both sides manually: flip on long edge. What is wrong? What should I do differently? Thank you. Federico

Hi @Fedmate
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.
It seems like you are trying to enable automatic duplex printing (printing on both sides of the paper) for your HP Envy 4520, but it's only available as a manual duplexing option. Based on your description, the Automatic Duplexing Unit is installed, but the setting for Automatic Duplexing is not enabled in your printer's configuration. Here’s how to resolve this and enable automatic two-sided printing:
Steps to Enable Automatic Duplex Printing
Open Printer Properties:
- Go to Devices and Printers in Windows.
- Right-click on your HP Envy 4520 printer and select Printer Properties.
Enable Automatic Duplexing:
- In the Printer Properties window, go to the Device Settings tab.
- Look for the setting called Automatic Duplexing Unit or something similar, and make sure it is listed as Installed.
- Ensure the Automatic Duplexing option is set to On (not "Off").
- If you don't see an option to enable or change Automatic Duplexing, it might be located under a different tab, such as Advanced or Device Settings.
Modify Printing Preferences:
- Now, go to the Printing Preferences window (this can usually be accessed from the Devices and Printers section as well).
- Under the Printing Preferences window, navigate to the Layout or Finishing tab.
- Make sure that Two-sided (Duplex) or Print on Both Sides is selected.
- Choose Flip on Long Edge or Flip on Short Edge depending on your document orientation needs.
Check for Software Updates:
- Ensure that your printer’s drivers are fully updated. Sometimes older drivers can have issues enabling features like automatic duplex printing.
- Visit the HP Support Website to download and install the latest drivers for your HP Envy 4520.
Restart Printer and Computer:
- After enabling the duplex printing settings, restart your printer and computer to make sure the changes take effect.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
