Both my HP 9015 and 8620 print double-sided after upgrading to Ventura. It doesn't matter whether the double-sided option is set to "off" -- printers print double-sided regardless of which MacBook computer or which application is doing the printing.
The only workaround is to toggle double-sided printing on then off then on then off, and then print.
This appears to be unique to Ventura and affects non-HP printers as well. . Any idea of how to fix this.

Hi,
First, please ensure that your macOS is fully up to date with its latest updates:
https://support.apple.com/en-il/HT213268
Next, try enabling Duplex printing and then save the setting as a Preset and try printing, may you see any difference then?
If the same persists, try resetting the printing system and check for any difference:
*Be aware that resetting the printer system will remove any existing print queue and reset any customized driver settings.
Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences .
Select Printers & Scanners.
Right-click (or Ctrl + click) your product in the Printers list in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system .
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type your user Name and Password .
Click OK . The printing system resets.
Now open HP Smart and reconfigure both printers, check if you may see any difference then.
If the same still persists, also try following the Resolution section below, add the 8620 printer by the HP Officejet Pro 8620 printer model from the Use drop-down menu, rather than AirPrint and check if you may see any difference then:
If that work, add the 9015 printer and also select the 8620 driver for it, I would not be surprised if any such problem might be related to Apple AirPrint and might be bypassed by using such an HP driver instead.

Lots of people have trouble with Ventura and various printers, especially with Presets not saving, and ICC color management for photo printing from Adobe Lightroom CC, and 2-sided printing. Apple changed some things about printing in Ventura OS, and it's very buggy.
You might try enabling the CUPS web interface on your machine. Go to Terminal and enter the command " cupsctl WebInterface=yes " The web interface is off by default o Macs, and you need to be an administrative user on your machine to enable it. When it's enabled, go to https://localhost:631/printers/ which opens the list of printers you have already set up for your Mac. Pick the printer you want to change, then go to the Administration popup button, and scroll to Set Default Options. Options will vary depending on the specific printer driver, but you should find one that relates to 2-sided printing. Change that to off or single-sided printing. Hope that works.
