My HP Envy 4524 has just stopped double sided printing automatically.
The only option it ofers me in the printer set up software is for manual only double sided printing.
How can I get automateic double sided printing back?

I understand you are facing an issue the issue you're experiencing with your HP ENVY 4524 All-in-One Printer not offering automatic double-sided printing can often be resolved by checking and adjusting a few settings on your computer and printer.
Here are steps you can follow to troubleshoot and fix this issue:
Step 1: Check Printer Settings
- Restart Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it, wait for a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Check for Updates: Ensure your printer firmware is up-to-date by checking for updates on the HP support website.
Step 2: Update Printer Drivers Uninstall Old Drivers: Software and Drivers for HP ENVY 4524 All-in-One Printer
- On Windows: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers. Right-click on your printer and select Remove device.
- On macOS: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners. Select your printer and click the - button to remove it.
Install Latest Drivers:
- Download and install the latest drivers from the HP Support website.
Step 3: Configure Printer Preferences
Windows:
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on your HP ENVY 4524 printer and select Printing preferences.
- Look for a tab or section labeled Finishing or Features.
- Ensure that Print on both sides (Duplex) is set to Automatically.
macOS:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your printer and click Options & Supplies.
- Go to the Driver tab and make sure Duplex Unit is checked.
- When printing a document, make sure to select Two-Sided printing in the print dialog box.
Step 4: Check Printer Firmware

- When printing from specific applications like Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat, ensure that Double-Sided Printing is enabled in the print settings.
