Seeking wisdom of the HP forum; Need proper drivers and software for running an HP Color LaserJet CM1312nfi MFP and or suggestions how to get it all up and running.
Having inherited the HP Color LaserJet CM1312nfi MFP from an office that bought it when it first came on the market way back when.
It had been used for putting together that semesters curriculum of 20 students. My aunt who has overseen the facility then until now, brought my attention to this printer last week when they were clearing storage space.
It had been shelved that same month and forgotten until last week. It was repacked into its carton with everything except the manual and and software that may have being included. I mean to say this machine is in pristine condition. The print out load was within the first three weeks after they got it then stored and forgotten.
A campus Tech suggested replenishing the toner cartridges with new OEM HP. Done that.
When testing a printout from a generic print app it worked good. The quality is simply amazing! came with a pack of good laser print paper too. That said, problem is , I am having difficulty installing the authentic firmware and software I download from the HP website. the download gets to the install window then says . unable to install unrecognized by apple files. I go to settings and security then tap “open anyways”. The instal starts for just a second then stops with a notice that the firm and software included in the HP recommended package.
The HP driver page finds my Mac and informs me it has found my OS as Mac OS X 10.0 then gives recommendations.
I try the first recommended package:
Type:
Driver-Product Installation Software
Version:
1.5.0
Operating systems:
Mac OS X 10.0
Release date:
Dec 14, 2011
File name:
HP-Color-LaserJet-CM1312-MFP-series_v1.5.0.dmg (9.7 MB)
Description:
This download includes the HP print driver, HP Printer Utility and HP Scan software
Fix and enhancements:
Updated Software/Drivers for Mac OS X 10.7.
I have spent three days on and off trying to get this set up with no luck.
three days of trouble shooting / un and reinstalls both downloads and computer . still no luck.
HP Tech said try this download. HMMM was he listening to me? This is the link we are discussing. nothing is not right.
As my computer is up to date across the board.
Running macOS Catalina version 10.15.7 16 gig of ram with at any given time averages 11 Gigs of ram available.
Starting over from the beginning of printer computer set up after many attempts , I come here to ask if and what I am needing to do differently, other than now seeing anger management therapy on the horizon.
Please help.
Thank you

Hi,
Please make sure your macOS is fully up to date by installing any update for Catalina:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201541
Next, uninstall any existing HP Software by following the HP Uninstaller Utility below:
Next, download and install the latest drivers below:
Finally, open System Preferences, and then open Printers & Scanners to re-add your printer. be sure to select the printer model within the Use drop-down menu.
