Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi, my computer product number is AOPO9EA#ABU.

I've a brand new HP Office Jet 3835 printer. After connecting it to my WIFI I then downloaded the 'OJ3830_Full_WebPack_1119.exe' file.

I opened it, then ran it. a few seconds after accepting the full download almost, minus one from the options at the start of the run, it stopped dead.

I then got a message:

Installation Error
Call to DriverPackageInstall returned error 112 for package
'C:\Program Files\HP OfficeJet 3830 series\DriverStore\Yeti
\hpygid20.inf

It then gave me to option to download the 'Troubleshooter' which after pressing the downloaded icon it stopped within a second showing the message:

C:\Users\Programming\Desktop\Troubleshoot HP Installation Failure
- MSI.hta is not a valid Win32 application

This has taken the best part of a day trying to resolve it with no luck. The only thing I could think of, and tried to find an alternative file was the part that says as much to say that it's incompatible with a 64-bit operating system.

I'd be very grateful if you, or anyone can help me as this printer was a birthday present, and the person who bought it for me would feel very bad if I cannot get it to work with the computer and blame themselves for it, as you can imagine.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Glen

@Glen2710, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates.

For more information, go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.

I recommend you delete the driver and root level and retry, follow the steps below:

1) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2) Select your HP Printer

3) Select Uninstall

4) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’

6) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.

7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe”

😎 Click on the “Drivers” tab

9) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10) Select Ok

11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12) Close Devices and Printers.

Now, download and install the full-featured software from here.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hello,

I was not able to reply, as I've been working.

Then on my days off, I tried unsuccessfully to install the printer, but I just got the same messages 'Error 112' over again. I looked for any printer installation software on my computer, but there was nothing at all as the installation packages refused to initiate.

They just brought up the very same installation errors as before.

This second part of the error:

C:\Users\Programming\Desktop\Troubleshoot HP Installation Failure - MSI.hta is not a valid Win32 application

Is it trying to tell me that my Windows 7 64-bit operating system is incompatible with the printer??

Thanks,

Glen

PS. If I can't get this printer to install on the computer,  reluctantly, I'm going to have ask my friend to take it back to the shop where she bought it, and get a different make of printer. Already, she feels bad at buying me it, (it was a birthday present) and I've not been able to get it installed.

Hi,

such an error as you describe will likely occur due to a corrupted user profile on your computer or any OS permission related problem, the printer is fully compatible with Windows 7 64-bit.

Do you use a user account with full administrator rights to install the printer software?

Try installing the software by following the MS Fixit tool to install or uninstall the program, follow the steps on screen and check for any difference:

Hope that may help,

Shlomi
