Officejet 4650
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Printer was working find until I changed the ink cartridge. After the new one was installed it wouldn't connect to the computer for printing. Fixed that by removing and  reinstalling the drivers. Now the printer stopped printing in color. Black and white only. After many failed attempts of troubleshooting I tried deleting and reinstalling the drivers again...... I went through the whole Error 5 issues to remove the only drivers. The the attempted reinstall wont work.

I cannot reinstall the drivers. I installed Install HP Smart app, I downloaded and ran the "HP OfficeJet 4650 series Print and Scan Driver and Accessories" files and I tried the HP Easy Start Printer Setup Software. So many hoops with registration and logging in and still can't even complete the basic necessity of downloading the drivers!

I'm at a loss on how to proceed. The printer now shows as "driver is unavailable".

Hi @SamanthaTT

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

I understand you are not able to print from your PC. Let us try these steps:

  1. On the PC, go to Control panel > Devices and printers > Add a printer(at the top)
  2. Under 'Choose a device or printer', click on 'The printer I want isn't listed'.
  3. Select 'Add a printer using a TCP/IP address'
  4. Find the IP address of the printer by tapping on the wireless/ethernet icon on the printer screen
  5. Type in the 'IP address in Hostname or IP address' box, click next
  6. Proceed to the next steps by following the on-screen instructions.
  7. Try printing in color.

If the issue persists, Install the printer using Windows built-in driver

Refer to this document to know how. Try printing.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
