I cannot get a driver to install on my two-year-old HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you

@de112,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

I'll need a few more details to narrow this down:

  • What operating system are you using (Windows 10, Windows 11, macOS, etc.)?
  • Is the printer already working on your network, or are you trying to set it up for the first time?
  • Are you getting an error message during installation? If so, what is the exact wording?
  • Are you installing through HP Smart, Windows, or software downloaded from HP's website?

In the meantime, here are a few things to try:

  1. Remove (uninstall) any previous HP printer software from your computer.
  2. Restart both the computer and the printer.
  3. Make sure Windows is fully updated.
  4. Install the printer using the HP Smart app rather than older driver packages, as the OfficeJet Pro 8025e is designed to work with HP Smart for setup and driver installation.
  5. If the printer is connected by Wi-Fi, verify that the printer and computer are on the same network.
  6. Temporarily disable any third-party antivirus software during the installation process.

If Windows can see the printer but HP software will not install, try adding the printer through Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners → Add device and let Windows retrieve the driver automatically.

Let me know the operating system and any error messages you're seeing, and I will be better positioned to provide more specific troubleshooting steps.

As a side note, the OfficeJet Pro 8025e is only a few years old and remains fully supported, so this is unlikely to be a case of HP dropping driver support.

Most often, these installation failures turn out to be:

  • remnants of an older HP installation,
  • HP Smart setup issues,
  • Windows print spooler problems,
  • security software interference,
  • or a network discovery problem preventing the installer from finding the printer.

Kind Regards,
