@Maraken

Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

I understand that you need help finding the drivers for your HP Photosmart C4780

I'll try my best to help you out.

Please install the drivers using the Apple Software Update

Is the Printer connected to the same Network as your computer?

Try the following steps

  1. Click the Apple menu, then click System Preferences.

  2. Depending on your operating system version, click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners.

    Figure : Example of the Printers & Scanners window

     Example of the Printers & Scanners window
  3. Check if the name of your printer displays in the Printers list. Do one of the following steps, depending on if the printer is listed or not.

    • If your printer is listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm communication and to make sure the correct driver is used. Click the name of your printer, then click the minus sign  to delete the printer. Once the printer is removed, click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, then continue to the next step.

    • If your printer is not listed, click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, then continue to the next step.

    • If your printer is not listed in the Add Printer or Scanner window, make sure the printer is connected to the Mac with a USB cable, or that it is on the same wired or wireless network as your Mac.

  4. Click the Use or Print Using menu, then select the name of your printer.

       NOTE: Selecting a Generic driver option from the Use menu can result in limited printer functionality.

  5. Click Add to add the printer to the list.

    • If you are prompted to install software, click Download and Install to complete the installation.

  6. Close the System Preferences window.

  7. Try to print

Thank you - I can now print with the USB. I am still unable to print wirelessly. I do not have the original software. I used this printer with another computer at my place of employment. I may have been connected wirelessly there (it's been 3 years ago) It would be nice to have the capability...Any suggestions? Again, thank you for getting me through the steps to get connected with the USB!

@Maraken

I'm glad we were able to get it working with the USB.

Now we can try changing the connection from USB to Wireless

Still not having any luck with connecting wirelessly with the suggestions you sent. 😞   I do see that the network it is configured to is my place of employment which I no longer need.  My home connection is WPA protected....  The Wireless Network Test Report I ran off the printer says to run the wireless network setup to configure the HP printer??? Thanks for your suggestions.

HP Photosmart C4780 driver not found. Easy Start download did not find that printer - only my other printer which is connected but in need of repair.... I was hoping to make the C4780 my working printer.

Thanks for working with me, but the downloaded Easy start from your link  only shows my other printer, not the C4780. So, it didn't help.

Follow the steps given below:

  1. Click the Apple menu, then click System Preferences.

  2. Depending on your operating system version, click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners.

Once you are there, delete all the printer's int he list, and then try to add just the only printer you want to use.
