I'm trying to connect my XP to the Envy5020 printer. I've tried all three of the HP recommended drivers but they don't work.
After an hour of downloading I get nothing. If I click on the desktop logo all I get is the printing assistant and a logo that goes round and round for hours. I've tried Scan doctor but it doesn't load. After two days I'm fed up, all Computer World can say is erase it all and try again. I've tried six times and the result is the same. I don't want fancy manipulation of photos , just print from a word file ans copy and scan.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I would suggest you try the Windows built-in drivers. Follow the steps below:
• Go to Control Panel - Devices and printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.
• When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.
• Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.
Refer to this document HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver for help.
Let me know if this helps.
