HP Photosmart Plus All-in-One Printer series - B209
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am able to get through the almost the whole installation for my Windows PC. It configures the printer, it's get online (even my Mac see it). But on the Windows side, the installation gets to the last part of the install saying. Completing configuration and it just stays on that screen, never finishing. After 10 min, I use task manager to terminate the task, and when I reboot, the HP Printer center says It can't open because driver install failed.

I tried installing the driver using compatibility mode for both Windows 7 & 8, same problem. I have disabled antivirus software. same problem. Printer is working, but not the driver install. PS_AIO_06_B209a-m_140_408-5.exe. I used HP's tool to try and fix the problem and all it did was find my printer and redownload and install the software I already did with no changed. Up that almost completing the install it all just stays on the finishing up screen and never advances.

What am I doing wrong. What is wrong with my PC that I can't install this driver. The printer works, but the driver install doesn't

Welcome to the HP support community.

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install printer full feature driver

That is a great detailed walkthrough. More than I did, I really though it would help, and I think that might be the right track. But something must still be missing. I followed your steps to remove the driver. And then reinstalled. In the middle of installing I got this message:

2020-10-21 (020524).png

I clicked closed, and let the installation continue. It got to the last screen as last time. This one:

2020-10-21 (021641).png

And I just let it run to be sure. IT wasn't till about 15-20 mins of it running that it gave me another error:

2020-10-21 (021628).png

I clicked closed, and thinking all was lost, I saw it was getting data and crating an error log:

2020-10-21 (021729).png

I'm hoping the error log below will better help you, to help me. As when this finished it put a program on my desktop called "HP Installation Error - Windows 8.exe" and when I ran that, the steps it put me through didn't work. Here's the error log:

2020-10-21 (021719).png

(I want to thank you for your time in helping me, as a PC tech, I'm so stumped, I feel I should have been able to resolved this on my own.)
