Regarding Windows Update, I have automatic updates turned on.  If I click on "check for updates" , the response is "You're up to date".

I am hesitant to update the printer's firmware because I have two other Windows 10 laptops that have no problems printing with this printer.

I have the HP Smart App installed.  When I try to install the printer with this app, the app returns the error message "There was a problem during installation.  To manually install the printer driver:"  The button takes you to the "Printers and Scanners" page in Windows Settings.  If you select "Add Printer", the Envy 5530 is shown.  When you click on "Add Device", it connects to the printer and it appears to add the printer.  However, under the "HP6D4DAB (HP ENVY 5530 series)" are the words "driver is unavailable".

I have tried multiple times to install the basic drivers for the Envy 5530 downloaded from the HP website.  The driver appears to load (the window says "The installation has completed").  If you click "Finish" and look in Programs and Features in Control Panel, the driver is not listed there.  After that, when you try to install the printer, it appears to install, but the "Driver is unavailable" error is still there.

We have already tried all the necessary troubleshooting steps and yet the issue persists. I think this issue needs some additional technical assistance that can be better provided through one-on-one interaction or a remote session with our HP Support team.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region for further assistance.

I tried one more time to install the printer using the built-in Windows driver.  This time it appears to have worked, so I think we're good.

Thanks for all your help.
