I have tried to download all the updates that are out and my driver is still not responding. I need help. I have a few documents I need to print off and scan but this driver thing will not allow it.

Hi @Skatty,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e printer. When your printer's driver is not responding, it can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you get your printer working again.
Check Hardware Connections:
- Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer or network.
- Check that the power cord is securely plugged in and the printer is turned on.
- Verify that the USB or network cable (if applicable) is properly connected.
Restart Your Printer:
- Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 30 seconds and then plug it back in.
- Turn on the printer and let it fully initialize.
Restart Your Computer:
- Sometimes, the issue might be with your computer, so restart it to rule out any software glitches.
Update or Reinstall the Printer Driver:
- Visit the HP official website (https://support.hp.com/) and search for your printer model.
- Download the latest printer driver for your operating system.
- Install the driver according to the provided instructions. You may need to uninstall the existing driver first if it's not working properly.
Check for Software Conflicts:
- Sometimes, third-party software can interfere with printer drivers. Temporarily disable or uninstall any unnecessary printer-related software or driver update utilities.
Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- HP provides a free diagnostic tool called "HP Print and Scan Doctor" that can automatically diagnose and resolve common printing problems. Download and run this tool to see if it can identify and fix the issue.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Visit the HP support website for your printer model and check if there are any firmware updates available. Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve compatibility issues.
Check Paper and Ink/Toner Levels:
- Make sure you have enough paper and ink/toner in your printer. Low levels can sometimes cause printing problems.
Test Printing and Scanning:
- After following these steps, try printing and scanning a test page to see if the issue has been resolved.
Remember to follow the troubleshooting steps in the order presented, and check if the issue is resolved after each step. Hopefully, one of these solutions will help you get your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e printer working again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
