Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I have an hp 2800e that I cannot keep connected to my computer.  I even bought a cable instead of wireless. For awhile it would come up printer unavailable but now it doesn't show a printer at all. When I go to settings it says I need a driver update but I do not know how to update a driver. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

You listed 32bit windows.  Please verity that windows is the 32 but version and not the 64 bit version.  You cannot use HP Smart or HP App as those tools are only  64 bit.

Spoiler
  • Press the Windows Key + I to open Settings.
  • Click on System in the left or right menu.
  • Scroll down and click on About.
  • Look under Device specifications next to System type. You will see either a 64-bit operating system or 32-bit operating system.

If your printer model ends in the letter 'e' then click the spoiler for special needs.

HP+ printers are designated by a lowercase "e" at the end of their model number (e.g., 8135e rather than 8135). These models are enabled for HP's smart printing ecosystem, which requires a permanent internet connection, an HP account, and the exclusive use of Original HP ink for the lifetime of the printer.

Your 2800e probably needs to be online.

Wi-Fi connection

Spoiler

Ideally, your Wi-Fi printer should connect to the modem or router. If your network has multiple boosters / repeaters, it is possible the printer may connect randomly to any of the units. The router needs to provide the same IP address on every connection. This rarely happens with random connects. An alternate Wi-Fi connection is Wi-Fi direct. Your laptop or smartphone prints directly to the printer and does not go through the router. For web services the printer must be online through the router, but you can still print using Wi-Fi direct. Do not call any phone number revealed in any video or site.

This video shows how to connect to the router: 2800 2810
A simple connection to the router can be done by using the WPS pushbutton method. This is explained on page 11 in this User Manual.

Wi-Fi Direct can be used to avoid configuring the router. Watch this: 2800 2810 2842
Wi-Fi Direct is explained on page 11 of the User Manual, this Wi-Fi setup avoids configuring the router.
You can still print using USB but unless I am mistaken, the printer needs to be online so it can phone home.

All your software is here

Select windows 10,  32bit if you have the 32 bit os and install the full feature driver.
