My computer suddenly started telling me my printer didn't have a driver or had driver problems.  I have tried for hours to install a driver but have no luck.  I don't want to pay $10/month to get something that I always had but now suddenly doesn't work.  I'm not overly tech savvy but can naviagate.  The HP site keeps telling me the page-link isn't available on certain options.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you!

@kansascitychris, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are trying to install the printer driver.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.

If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.

Install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store. Try printing.

Alternatively, click here to download the HP Full-feature driver.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

I did finally get the printer to work.  For a day.  Now when I try to print something, I'm told the computer isn't communicating with the printer.  And I'm not even sure how I got the printer to work to begin with.  HELP!?

Did you perform the steps mentioned in my previous post?

If the printer is not connected to a network,

On the printer screen, go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore network settings

Go back to Network > Wireless > Wireless setup wizard and select your network.

  • Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network. Either 2.4 or 5GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.

Let me know how it goes.

Yes, I did all that you mentioned (and more).  I think I finally have it fixed.  Yesterday, things just magically started printing again.  Sigh!
