The HP support Assistant showed me two updates...
1) Realtek HD Audio driver version 6.0.1. This one downloads, but installation always fails.
2) Intel Wireless LAN Drivers 20.90.07. This one says installation complete, but when I check device manager, the driver is still on version 19.
3) Intel RST is on version 15.9 on my PC, but Intel has version 16 .8. I have not received an update from HP. Should I download it from Intel?

I see from your post that you need assistance related to drivers not getting installed on your HP Pavilion notebook. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
What is the product number of the notebook? Use this link to find it: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03754824 (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
Have you recently made any software or hardware changes on the PC before the issue started?
Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall HP Support Assistant?
Have you tried to update the drivers either from Windows update?
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
Perform a Hard reset on the notebook:
Many startup errors and other problems can be resolved by decreasing the amount of power stored in hardware components. Decreasing stored power is sometimes referred to as a "Hard Reset". Use the following steps to perform a hard reset on a computer:
1. If Windows is open, click Start and then Shutdown.
If Windows is not open and the computer has power, press and hold the power button on the computer until the computer shuts off.
2. With the power off, disconnect the power cord from the back of the computer.
3. With the power off and the power cord disconnected, press the power button on the computer for 5 seconds. The power light indicator on or near the power button might turn on briefly but then go out.
4. Reconnect the power cord and turn on the power.
Next thing, I would suggest here is to Run Windows Updates troubleshooter -
Download and install the troubleshooter from this link.
Now try to perform a Windows update:
1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.
If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to uninstall HP support Assistant from control panel and programs and features.
Once done, restart the computer and then install the latest version of HP support assistant, using this link - HP PCs - Using HP Support Assistant (Windows)
Once done, try to update the drivers from HP support assistant and check if that helps.
