HP LaserJet Pro 428fdw
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I have the LaserJet Pro 428fdw and I purchased a 3rd tray to be able to print legal and letter size documents. I have the setting set to "auto" when printing to detect when the file being printed has multiple sizes, legal and letter, however, what is occurring is  it will attempted to print both documents on legal paper or letter paper. It does not print from the correct tray. I have also made sure that the tray's in the printers preferences that I have selected the corresponding paper size to what I have put into the trays.

I would like to know how I would be able to fix this issue and make sure that when I am printing a document it will auto select the correct tray to print from. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

I work for Geek Squad and had the same issue with a client's computer. After a few months (yes there's little support for this issue), the final solution after you've set the print trays for the correct paper size and all the other settings that are recommended, you'll need to switch the paper size in settings from letter or legal to the 3rd choice which is "statement". After months of trial and error, this was the missing step that solved the problem. I also found that when printing an adobe document, don't click on the file to open the document, you'll need to open Adobe and then open the file within Adobe in order to have this print option. Just searching the Adobe file separately and letting it open Adobe for you will not give you the option. I hope this helps all those with this issue.
