Hi @juice9901,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP 8135E printer has stopped duplex printing (printing on both sides of the paper) after a firmware update, and the option no longer appears. You can try the following steps to resolve this issue:

1. Check Printer Driver Settings

Ensure that your printer driver is the most recent version and is properly configured to support duplex printing:

  • Open the printer driver on your computer.
  • Navigate to the "Printer Properties" or "Preferences."
  • Under the "Finishing" or "Layout" tab, make sure the "Print on Both Sides" option is selected.

2. Update or Reinstall Printer Driver

If duplex printing is not supported, it might be due to an outdated driver:

  • Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to install or update the printer driver.

3. Configure Printer Settings

Sometimes, printer settings might need to be configured or reset:

  • Check the printer control panel and ensure that duplex printing is enabled.

  • Under the printer's setup menu, navigate to "Printing Preferences" and ensure duplex printing is not turned off.

4. Firmware Update

The firmware update might have affected your settings:

  • Check if a rollback to a previous firmware version is possible.
  • Contact Official HP® Support to confirm if there are any known issues with the latest firmware version affecting duplex printing.

5. Test with Different Software

Try printing using a different software application to rule out software-related issues:

  • Use a different document processing software to see if the duplex option shows up.

  • Try printing a different type of document or from a different computer.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
