Thanks for your response but I don't think you understand the problem. Let me re-state it:
When printing a document with an odd number of pages in duplex mode the reverse side of the last page should be blank, for obvious reasons.
My Envy 7130 always makes page 2 - the reverse of page 1 - the blank page. I can find no way of altering this. Since it is something which should happen automatically it must be a software problem. I have checked every available source of such information and it appears my printer, permanently online and wirelessly connected to HP, is fully up to date for its driver.
Or am I missing something?

It does seem to be a Software issue. I suggest you uninstall the printer driver from root level and download the full feature software
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the computer and download the Full Feature Software from Here and follow the onscreen Instructions
Keep me posted

Hi Krazy
Having just spent 30 minutes typing a response only to lose it when I pressed the "Post" button I am getting a bit frustrated.
I spent two hours this morning trying to de-install and re-install as you suggested. I wont go into the saga again.
In short my printer does exactly the same thing following the reload. Regardless of whether I print "back to font" or "front to back". When printing an odd number of pages in duplex mode the "page 2" is always blank as opposed to the final page which SHOULD be blank. Am I the only person on this database who has the same problem when printing an odd number of pages??HELP!!

I request you to talk to HP support.
They might have multiple options to help you with this.
- Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
- Select the country.
- Enter the serial of your device.
- Select the country from the drop-down.
- Click on "Show Options".
- Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
I hope that helps.

I've found a solution. Not the one I wanted but at least it works. The trick is to send all but the last page to be printed and then send just the last page. Not drastically efficient but it would appear there is no real solution. I really should have taken more interest in software. I would have been able to do it myself. Can't be rocket science.
