HP ENVY Pro 6458 All-in-One Printer

I received a HP ENVY Pro 6458 from my mom out of box and it did not come with the setup cartridges. How do I bypass the E0 message that is flashing and continue setting up my printer for use?

Hi @snmartin94,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The E0 error on your HP ENVY Pro 6458 indicates that the printer is not recognizing the setup cartridges. Since you don't have the setup cartridges, you'll need to bypass this error to proceed with the setup process. Here's how you can do it.

  • Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. Sometimes, this simple reset can clear the error.
  • Skip the Initial Setup: If the printer allows it, you might be able to skip the initial setup process that requires the setup cartridges. Look for an option to skip or bypass setup during the initial startup process.
  • Use Standard Cartridges: If you have standard ink cartridges available for your printer model (not the setup cartridges), try installing them instead. While this might not work for all printers, some models can accept standard cartridges as a workaround.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
