Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When setting up my HP Smart and HP ink I used a different email, and it would not find my printer, so I tried to change one and the either of the emails and kept getting "This email address is not available. If you own this email address, you can release it by signing in to the other account and changing it there. Alternatively, you can use that other account instead of changing this one. Use the forgot password link as needed."

Hi @oldman731,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're facing an issue with changing the email address associated with your HP Smart account. The error message indicates that the email you're trying to use is already associated with another HP account. Here’s what you can do to resolve this:

Change your email address

Change your email address from your HP Instant Ink account page.

Change your email address for Instant Ink for Home / Home Office

Sign into your Instant Ink account.

Click Account, then Profile in the left menu, then Update Security Settings.

A confirmation email is sent to your new email address. Open the confirmation email, and then click Confirm email address.

Change your email address for Instant Ink for Business

HP sends emails to account administrators. Add or remove administrators to change addresses.

Change your email address for HP All-in Plan for Print

Go to the HP Smart website, click Sign In, and enter your account credentials.

Click Account, then Profile in the left menu, then Update Security Settings.

A confirmation email is sent to your new email address. Open the confirmation email, and then click Confirm email address.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
