ENVY 4513
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We just purchased a HP ENVY 4513, when trying to print different card sizes, there is no option for custom size.

The card software says it is a printer option that is not allowing it, is there a software update or somewhere I can

go to to add this functioability?

Thanks

In so much that I am aware, there are two possible methods (at this writing) that can be used to create a Custom Paper Size form.

If the feature is available on your printer, then one of the methods should provide access to the custom form / setup.  Assuming the feature is indeed available, the "which one" works depends on printer model and printer software version / type.

Two methods to assign custom paper size forms

Devices and Printers > Print Server Properties

and - for Windows 8.x - Windows 10

Preferences > Print Dialog > Paper / Quality > Custom setting

Example 1

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers >

Left-Click on your Printer one time to highlight >

Left-Click Print Server Properties (along the top ribbon)

Example 2

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers >

Right-Click on your Printer > If necessary, select printer from drop down menu / list

Printing Preferences > tab Paper/Quality > Custom

If there is no access to the custom form setup, then -- in spite of the supporting documentation in the Specifications and the "how to" document -- the feature is not available on your printer.

The best I can do on my side,  not having any access to your equipment (printer), is to look at the installation package.  I have done that.  IF I am intrepreting the information correctly, it appears that custom paper size is at least available for plain paper and (perhaps) photo paper.  It is unclear whether Index card paper sizes can be made "custom".   ?

Added to your comment that the custom form setup is not available in your printer software, I can only fall back on "if you cannot find it, it is not there".

I can send in a request that someone take a look at the missing link in the user guide.

From the Printer's How-to Category -

"Load Media" document (replaces the missing link / information in the user guide):

Loading Paper, Cards, and Envelopes

Specifications indicate the printer supports custom size paper (Section Paper Handling < Supported custom sizes)

The document explains how to create a custom paper size form:

 Creating Custom Paper Sizes

The problem, if there is one, is that some card software may not get along with the printer software (which must be installed regardless of other software that you might use).  Hallmark was recently reported (in this community) as having a hard time printing (envelopes).  Printer prints envelopes from Word just fine - Hallmark?  Not so much.  ??

Reminder:  The Specificatons do restrict the weight of the "card" paper to Index stock at or below 200g/m2 (110lb).  If your card paper is heavier, it will balk, print incorrectly, jam, or otherwise "not work".

  • Open the main tray
  • Remove plain paper
  • Load card paper (about six to eight), face down, short sides front and back
  • Close the tray
  • On the printer front panel, click "Modify" (or similar wording), Change the paper size to Custom

Create your custom paper size form, using an existing Index card size (in the list) as a "template" to create your new form.

Try using your card software.

If it won't work, try using Word or Avery free software with a template that matches your card paper size.  Both Avery and Word provide a number of card templates.  Photo Creations can also be used to create your holiday projects (cards, calendars, and more).

The custom setting is not in the print preferences for the 4513.

In looking at the user guide online, on page 8 under paper basics there is a link to see what custom

size paper:

this link doesn't work
