Microsoft Windows 11

Hi. My ENVY 5532 will not scan or copy. I have used the PC Doctor and whilst doing the scan fixing it stops at drivers and says it cannot connect with printer, which is odd as I have just downloaded the latest package and installed it on the printer. Printing works fine, also by network. Any solutions please. It has been installed and restarted many times.

Hi @devonroamer,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY 5532 printer is having trouble scanning or copying despite printing working fine, it's often related to software or connectivity issues rather than hardware problems. Here are steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

May I know
Have you made any changes on the printer or PC post that this issue raised?

  • Restart Printer and Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve communication issues between the printer and the computer.
  • Check Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer and that the network connection is stable. If you're using a USB connection, try a different USB port and cable.
  • Update Drivers: Even if you've recently downloaded and installed the latest drivers, it's worth double-checking if there are any updates available. Visit the HP website Software and Drivers for HP ENVY 5532 e-All-in-One Printer and download the latest drivers specifically designed for Windows 11.
Click here to know different methods of updating the printer firmware.
  • HP Print and Scan Doctor: Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool again. This tool can help identify and resolve common printing and scanning problems. Make sure to follow any troubleshooting steps Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  • Firewall/Antivirus Settings: Sometimes, firewall or antivirus settings can interfere with the communication between the printer and the computer. Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software and try scanning or copying again to see if the issue persists.
  • Reset Printer: You can try resetting your printer to its factory defaults. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.
  • Check Printer Settings: Ensure that the printer settings are configured correctly for scanning and copying. Check the printer control panel or the HP software on your computer to verify the settings.

Hi Gaya 1239

Thank you for your in depth reply. Unfortunately I have tried everything you suggest, all to no avail. The scan doctor stops at drivers, it goes red and will not go any further. When trying to scan it tells me that communication between the scanner and PC is not working. All this has happened since a big upgrade from Microsoft for Windows 11.

I have no scanning or copying facility on my printer. I cannot seem to update the drivers, I have downloaded the full package on the HP website but it hasn't helped. I have turned the firewalls off and I have done a factory reset. We need HP to create a new driver that will function with the Windows 11 updates, it would appear.

I am going mad. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, tried everything suggested and used HP smart and easy start. The scan doctor gets stuck at drivers and doesn't finish. I don't seem to be able to get any help from Microsoft or HP and all the while I cannot use scan or copy on my printer. Please does anyone have any other suggestions than all the ones that have previously been mentioned and completed by me.
