I am not sure if I am doing this correctly. Being 80+ year old gives me some challanges with the tech world. My issue is with my printer. It appears to be in an idle mode. No matter what I try to do it will not go out of itle. I think it is connected or something but just will not print. I have done everything from unplugging everything, turning off everything but nothing works. It may be an easy fix, but not for me!!!

@knarf1, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for reaching out, and no worries, you're doing just fine! Technology can be tricky sometimes, and I'm here to help you step-by-step.
It sounds like your HP ENVY 6055e printer is stuck in idle mode and not responding to print commands. Let’s try a few simple steps to get it working again:
Restart Printer and Computer
You’ve already tried unplugging, which is great! Let’s do it in this order:
- Turn off your printer and unplug it from the wall.
- Shut down your computer.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- Start your computer again.
Check Printer Connection
Make sure your printer is connected to your Wi-Fi:
- On the printer, press the Wireless button (or look for a wireless icon).
- If the light is blinking, it’s not connected.
- You can restore Wi-Fi setup mode by pressing and holding the Wireless and Cancel buttons together for 5 seconds. Then, use the HP Smart app on your computer or phone to reconnect it.
Here’s a guide to help:
Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP printer | HP® Support
Run HP Smart Diagnose & Fix Tool
This tool can automatically detect and fix many issues:
- Open the HP Smart app on your computer.
- Click on “Printer Settings” > “Advanced Settings”.
- Select “Diagnose & Fix” and follow the prompts.
If you don’t have the app, you can download it here: HP Smart
Clear Print Queue (if stuck)
Sometimes, print jobs get stuck:
- On your computer, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Click your printer, then Open queue.
- Right-click and Cancel any stuck jobs.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
