HP ENVY 6020e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP ENVY 6020e will not print.

Have run diagnostics which says everything OK but test print says printer offline.

It is obviously online as a search for a new printer finds it.

Printing is Ok when used to photocopy.

Have removed HPSmart from computer and re-installed it.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi @chris_kropacsy,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY 6020e printer is appearing offline when trying to print, but it’s clearly connected to the network and working for copying, here are some steps you can try.

Restart Printer and Computer

  • Turn off both the printer and computer, then restart them. This often helps refresh connections and can resolve temporary connectivity issues.

Check Printer Settings

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners on your computer.
  • Select your HP ENVY 6020e and choose Manage. Ensure it's set as the Default Printer.
  • Right-click on the printer, go to Printer Properties > Ports and make sure it’s using a WSD (Web Services for Devices) port, or the correct network IP port.

Clear Print Queue

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on the printer and select See what’s printing.
  • Cancel any pending print jobs to clear the queue.

Run Windows Printer Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Select Printer and run the troubleshooter to detect and resolve any issues.

Disable SNMP Status

  • In some cases, the SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) setting can cause printers to show as offline.
  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click the printer, and select Printer Properties.
  • Under the Ports tab, select the port your printer is using, then choose Configure Port.
  • Uncheck SNMP Status Enabled and apply the changes.

Reinstall the Printer Driver

  • Remove the printer from Devices and Printers.
  • Reinstall the printer by adding it back or downloading the driver directly from HP’s support site.

Check Router Settings

  • If possible, assign a static IP to the printer through your router settings to avoid IP changes that can cause offline issues.

HP Smart App Troubleshooter

  • Within the HP Smart app, there may be a built-in troubleshooter or option to reset the connection.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you Alden4.
I thought everything was fixed and was able to print a page. Now however the printer keeps going to sleep!
When I run Windows trouble shooter it says the printer needs to be turned on. I turn it on manually and it still says it is turned off.
Any more ideas please.
Chris
