When I print a .docx document that contains both vertical and horizontal pages, even if the print preview shows them correctly routed, in print I have all the pages in vertical. Any suggestions? Thank you

Easier option from the perspective of "what the printer and the software can do"

Fix the document

Realign the content in the Word document so the document is consistent throughout - either portrait or landscape.

Word printing lets you choose Portrait or Landscape,  not both.

The printer software does not read / set individual pages for this type of "this way" then "that way" setup.

General Example - Printing Preferences (from the Full Feature Software / Full Driver)

9025_Printing_Preferences_Media_Types_4.jpg

What about Adobe Reader DC ?

Exporting the document to PDF and then printing seems like it should work.

The Adobe Reader DC software switches the document to one orientation or the other and not by individual page.

Example

Manage Print Output with Print Preview_PDF_1FManage Print Output with Print Preview_PDF_1F

What else?

If you cannot (will not) change the document structure,

print part of the document in Portrait and the other part in Landscape.

This will at least work with a 1-sided document and possibly with 2-sided document as long as the location where the pages change orientation are not on the "back side" of a page.

Open the document

Set to print

Select your orientation

Instead of printing "All pages", select to print a page range at the orientation needed for those pages.

Print those pages.

Repeat...

Open the document

Set to print

Select your orientation

Select to print a page range and select the pages to be printed.

General example - HP Smart for Windows application - Simple PDF document print - Page Range / Page Order

NOTE:  The ability to select the Shortcut "Everyday Printing" in More Settings is made possible by having previously installed the Full Feature Software / Full Driver for the printer.

Printer Software

Method - Use the Easy Start Wrapper to Install the Full Feature / Full Driver Software

For printers that support the option,

Your Printer supports the Easy Start wrapper to install the printer software.

Use the Easy Start wrapper to install and configure the printer software.

  • Home Page - HP Easy Start
  • Open Category Software and Drivers
  • Topic: Software-Utility
  • Download-and-Save  the current version of the Easy Start wrapper to install your print software
  • If using USB:  Disconnect the USB cable between the printer and computer before installing the software.
  • Right-Click on the downloaded package and "Run as Administrator" to start the installation
  • Select to install the “Full Driver” / “Full Feature Software”
  • If using USB:  Connect the cable when instructed to do so (near the end of the installation process).
  • After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in.

Notes >> Easy Start... The Journey

  1. About 2/3 of the way through the setup, you will be given the opportunity to select the software - select the "Full Driver" set (as opposed to the basic driver).

  1. You can skip / ignore suggestion(s) that you add the HP Account – you’ll need the account at some point, for now, you can skip this suggestion (as many times as it insists it’s a good idea) during the full driver software installation.

  1. If you see it, you can skip / ignore suggestion(s) regarding Instant Ink subscription.  Instant Ink subscription is NOT mandatory.

  1. Full driver provides print and scan functions supported by your printer.
