ENVY PRO 6455
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just bought an ENVY Pro 6455 printer. The printer seems to work fine. My question and issue is this - while the printer is in rest mode (no print command) the ink carriage shifts in a manner similar to the cleaning of the jets before printing. The shifting process happens 8-9 times per minute, none stop. This is not only annoying, but I wonder what damage is happening to the cleaning process. Is this normal? Is there a way to stop this?

Welcome to the HP support community.

Perform a power reset

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet and printer without any surge protector.
  6. Turn on the printer.

Update the printer firmware

I hope that helps.

Thank you for the tip on stopping the constant ink refreshing, but shortly after sending the request , it stopped. I have no idea what I did if I did anything. It just stopped and seems to be working. My only issue now is that it looses the connection with the internet frequently. It takes a while to find the right steps to reconnect, but I am managing that issue so far. Thanks again for your tip.
