If your HP ENVY 6500E Series printer is encountering issues where it prompts you to "Save as" instead of printing, it is likely due to an incorrect printer setting or software issue. Follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:
1. Check Your Printer Settings

- Open the Control Panel on your computer.
- Select Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on your HP ENVY 6500E printer and select Set as default printer.
2. Remove and Reinstall the Printer Driver
Sometimes, reinstalling the printer driver can resolve such issues:
- Open the Control Panel and go to Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on your HP ENVY 6500E printer and select Remove device.
- Visit the HP Support website to download the latest drivers for your printer model.
- Install the downloaded drivers and add your printer again.
3. Check Your Printer Properties
Ensure your printer is not set to print to a file:
- Open the Control Panel and select Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on the HP ENVY 6500E printer and select Printer properties.
- Navigate to the Advanced tab.
- Ensure that the option "Print to file" is not selected.
4. Verify Printer Spooler Service
Ensure the Printer Spooler service is running:
- Press Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
- Type services.msc and press Enter.
- Locate Print Spooler in the list and ensure it is set to Automatic and running. If not, right-click on it and select Start.
