I have recently had to change network settings and have had a difficult time getting the printer set back up for wireless printing. Now that this is accomplished, I cannot access any of the secure settings in EWS as the printer is not accepting the default username/password, nor those listed in my password program.
I have checked, and there does not seem to be any sticker on my device with an id and/or PIN, on the bottom, back or inside the cartridge area.
I can access the current IP through a browser and see current status, but configuring the id/password or resetting defaults does not seem accessible at my current level of access.
I do not really want to leave a device connected wirelessly while I have no idea what the admin settings are.

If English is not your native language or if you wish to get additional information not covered below, then use the HP and Microsoft support assistants. The latest HPSA supports 36 languages and can be downloaded here. Microsoft's AI assistant is in the latest Windows 10 and 11 releases and there are instructions here on how to enable the AI. Microsoft's AI assistant (Copilot) has a microphone button and supports natural language processing. |
if the below Wi-Fi reset does not work you will have to contact HP, or ask Microsoft's Copilot for optional help.

or m15w optionally
Turn off printer by pressing power/ready button (button 3 in picture below). While printer is off, press and hold the resume/cancel button (button 4 in picture below). While holding the resume/cancel button, press the power/ready button to turn the printer on. Continue holding the resume/cancel button for 20 seconds.

Wi-Fi direct mode uses the PIN. This is useful if there is no modem or you want to avoid configuring the modem
.
To use Wi-Fi Direct, make sure it is enabled. To check Wi-Fi Direct name and password (pin), print a configuration report by pressing and holding the Resume/Cancel LED starts blinking, and then release the button. |
A video showing this for m15w is here Page 5 of reference guide explains Wi-Fi direct for the M203dw and indicate that both the 2.4 and 5ghz band are supported.
Here is Wi-Fi setup video for m28w The m15w video here might be useful but the Wi-Fi is easier to setup.
WPS or pushbutton Wi-Fi setup is described on page 2 of this manual
full feature software m28w and 29,30,31 March 2022
Full feature for m15,16,17a,17w March 2022
LaserJet Reference m28w m15w m203dw
Let me know if you have a flex system (Wi-Fi boosters or repeaters) as the setup is much more complicated when using the router type of connection.

Thank you BeemerBiker for your swift reply, but I have already connected the device to WiFi.
My issue is currently that I cannot access the EWS settings in order to access the administrative aspects of the printer, such as ID and Password.
According to the config print out (from holding the resume/cancel button the direct connect settings have been reset to the defaults. However, when accessing the EWS for the printer (see image below) I cannot access the System or Networking tabs, and there does not appear to be anyway to reset these settings back to the default.
When I do attempt to access those features, I am presented with a logon screen for which I do not apparently have the current credentials for.
As a side note, I am using the current versions of the software and have updated the firmware to the most recent from the HP support pages yesterday and today.

Yep - I have been able to get that far, but when clicking on the System tab to get to the next step, I am presented with the following:
This is the point that I cannot proceed beyond. The Username/Password is the sticking point. I need to find some way to reset this to the defaults so that I can change these credentials to secure the printer.
Resetting via the Resume/Cancel button has reset the Direct Connect SSID/Password, but this does not work for this.

The reset instructions I provided should have worked. Did you wait the full 20 seconds?

BeemerBiker, I stand corrected. I have tried the reset something like 4-5 times, without any success beyond resetting the Direct Connect credentials.
I tried it one last time, and gave it about 30 seconds by my count. This time it did succeed.
My apologies for wasting your time on that, so I will click the accept as solution. Thank you for that last email to give me that push.
