I have been trying to use HP Easy Start to set up my hp Photosmart 5510 series printer to my new iMac running Catalina 2. . I first tried to set up wireless (my router is about 20 feet away),... It didn't work because even when I unplugged the USB after it first asked me t, it kept continuing to ask me to unplug the USB., over and over. I then tried to set up USB, not wireless, and it seemed to be going fine until it was time to print a test page....” waiting for the printer to become available” huh? There are no other print jobs...plus this is not a shared printer. The printer was working fine for years on my older mac, but using this ”easy start” with this new mac and the wireless router is not so easy. Any help would be appreciated.
I have tried...
1. to unplug, wait, then replug the printer.
2, power off then restart the computer.
3. Went into system preferencesà and reset that printer system and again shut down and restarted my computer. Nothing works.☹️

@curenf2, Welcome to HP Support Community!
To be able to assist you better, I would like to know the following:
1.) Is there any antivirus software installed on your Mac?
2.) Are you using a USB hub?
Let us try uninstalling the printer software completely and then try installing it again. Refer to the document HP Printers - Uninstalling HP Printer Software (Mac) for help. Once the uninstallation is complete, restart the computer, use this link to download and install the new driver. Configure the printer and try printing.
Alternatively, add the printer using Apple AirPrint drivers.
1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.
2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.
3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.
4.) Click the plus sign click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.
5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.
6.) Try to print.
Let me know the outcome.
