Hi @Callmetiffanyha,

Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults

If you lost the password and can't access the EWS, you can reset your printer to its factory settings. This will reset the printer’s network settings and remove any password set for the EWS. Here's how to do it:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Press and hold the Cancel button (red X) and the Wi-Fi button simultaneously.
  3. Turn the printer back on while holding both buttons.
  4. Keep holding until the Wi-Fi and Power light blink.
  5. Release the buttons. This should reset the printer to factory default settings.

After resetting, the EWS password will also be removed, and you should be able to access it without any password.

Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS) without a Password

After the reset:

Reconnect your printer to your Wi-Fi network by following the setup instructions on your printer or using the HP Smart app.

Find the IP address of your printer:

  • Press the Wi-Fi button on your printer and hold it for a few seconds to print a Network Configuration Page.
  • Look for the IP address listed on the page.

Open a web browser on your computer and type in the printer's IP address in the address bar (e.g., http://192.168.1.5).

You should now be able to access the Embedded Web Server without needing a password.

Set a New Password (Optional)

If you'd like to set a new password after accessing the EWS:

  1. In the EWS, go to the Security tab.
  2. Find the option to set a new password.
  3. Enter and confirm your new password.

Update the Firmware (If Required)

If you have trouble accessing the EWS or the issue persists, make sure the printer's firmware is up-to-date. You can check this from the HP Smart app or through the EWS.

  1. Open the HP Smart app or go to the EWS.
  2. Navigate to Firmware under the settings or maintenance menu.
  3. Check if an update is available and follow the instructions.

If You’re Still Having Trouble:

  • Reinstall the printer drivers: Sometimes, reinstalling the printer drivers from the HP website can help.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
