Hello,
I just got my new OfficeJet 8012 and after installing everything, including updating the firmware I still can't scan anything directly from the printer. On the panel it says I still have to install the full software on windows or use the HP smart app on Mac to scan.
I don't have a windows system and the smart app is not very smart and offer no good way to scan directly to an email or network folder.
Am I right that HP is not supporting Mac to use the full functions for scanning? I need to scan a lot (more than printing) and want to scan automatically multi-pages to an email or best a network folder without using any computer. And I want to change the DPI and color/black quality on the panel every time without using a computer.
I'm not sure anymore if the OfficeJet 8012 is the right device to do it or I need another printer/scanner. It looks like HP and Mac is not in big love, so I'm not sure if it would change if I change to another HP device. And I would like to have a smaller device than a big production printing machine.
Any tips for getting the full software on Mac or about a device that can easily scan to email and network folders would be great. Should be working on Mac too for sure.
Thank you in advance!

Yes, it does offer scanning to a network folder, see below support document on this matter:
HP OfficeJet Pro 9010, 9020 Printers - Set Up and Use a Scan to Network Folder
Whatever defaults you select for the scan profile, these remains default for the scan profile, regardless of any printer restart.

Hi,
Scanning from the printer front panel is a feature available for Windows PCs, not for Mac computers.
You may only scan through the HP Smart app on a Mac computer with an HP Officejet 8012 printer.
Generally, scanning directly to Email or a Network folder is not a feature available for your printer, such functionality is available for select models only (e.g. Officejet Pro 9010 offers such functionality), regardless if this is a PC or a Mac computer, and can be used with both, so maybe this is not the best product for your needs....
The Officejet Pro 9010 offers such functionality as an example:

Thank you for your fast answer. I think I have to move to another model.
Do you know if the 9010 offer the "scan to folder in network" function?
And do you know if it is possible to set the scan quality settings fix so I don't have to change the settings every time I start the printer? (I had it with my old model that every time I start the printer the scan settings went into default mode)
Informations about this topics are very confusing on the HP website.
