I set up my printer, managed to get it printing and now 24 hours later the printer is trying to download something and failing. I cant even turn it off, it just turns itself back on and starts downloading again!!!

@Nicki-c, Welcome to HP Support Community!

 

There are chances that the printer is trying to get a firmware update. I'd suggest you check for the updates manually and install it. Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. For more information, go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.

 

If the issue persists, please share the picture of the printer screen to further isolate the issue.
