Hi, my HP Envy 5530 is "not available" on my Acer Aspire C24 (Win 11) nor can I make it my default printer. It is recognised by the system and works fine using wifi from all my other devices, any ideas please?

Hi @clive007,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your HP Envy 5530 is recognized but shows as "not available" on your Acer Aspire C24 running Windows 11, it can be frustrating, especially since it works fine with other devices. Here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue.

Check Printer Status in Windows Settings

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Locate the HP Envy 5530, and check if it’s listed as "offline" or has any error messages.
  • If it's offline, right-click on it and choose "Use Printer Online."

Restart Print Spooler Service

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  • Scroll down to find Print Spooler, right-click, and select Restart.
  • After restarting, check if the printer becomes available.

Remove and Re-add the Printer

  • In Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners, select the HP Envy 5530 and click Remove.
  • Click Add a printer or scanner, wait for Windows to detect your printer, and re-add it.

Check Printer Driver

  • Ensure you have the latest driver installed for the HP Envy 5530.
  • Visit the HP Support Website to download the latest driver for Windows 11.
  • Install the driver and restart your PC.

Set as Default Printer

  • In Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners, click on the HP Envy 5530 and choose Set as default.
  • If you cannot set it as default, uncheck the box that says "Let Windows manage my default printer" and try again.

Check WiFi Connection

  • Ensure that your Acer Aspire C24 is connected to the same WiFi network as your HP Envy 5530.
  • Sometimes, having the printer on a different network or a guest network can cause communication issues.

Firewall and Security Software

  • Check if your firewall or any security software on the Acer is blocking the connection to the printer.
  • Temporarily disable the firewall or security software to see if the printer becomes available.

Update Windows 11

  • Make sure your Windows 11 is up to date. Sometimes, updates include fixes for connectivity and device compatibility issues.

Check for Windows Printing Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Run the Printer troubleshooter to detect and fix any issues.

After going through these steps, your HP Envy 5530 should become available on your Acer Aspire C24.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
