I can't print from computer or from my phone.  Previous forum said to unplug computer and printer, then plug back in.  I do not want to do this every time I need to print.  What's the issues?

If not resolved I will return this item.

Hi @Paulalea,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're having persistent connectivity issues with your HP Envy 6000 printer. Constantly having to unplug and replug your devices is indeed frustrating. Here are several steps to help diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Restart Devices Properly

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Restart your router to refresh your network.
  • Restart your computer and your phone.
  • After a few minutes, plug the printer back in and turn it on. Let it reconnect to the Wi-Fi network.

2. Check Wi-Fi Connection

  • Ensure that your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer and phone.
  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the Wi-Fi settings and verify the connection status.
  • If the printer is not connected, go through the Wi-Fi setup process again to reconnect it.

3. Update Firmware and Drivers

  • Make sure your printer firmware is up to date. Check the HP website for any available firmware updates for the HP Envy 6000.
  • Update the printer drivers on your computer. Visit the HP support website, download the latest drivers for your operating system, and install them.

4. Reinstall the Printer

  • On your computer, go to “Devices and Printers” or “Printers & Scanners” in the settings.
  • Remove the HP Envy 6000 from the list of devices.
  • Reinstall the printer using the latest drivers downloaded from the HP website.
  • For your phone, remove the printer from the HP Smart app and then re-add it.

5. Check HP Smart App

  • Ensure that the HP Smart app is up to date on both your computer and phone.
  • Open the app and follow the steps to reconnect the printer to the app.

6. Disable IPv6 on Printer

  • Sometimes, disabling IPv6 can resolve connectivity issues. This setting can be found in the network settings on your printer’s control panel.

7. Reset Network Settings

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the network settings and look for an option to reset network settings. This will clear any incorrect configurations and allow you to set up the network connection anew.

8. Static IP Address

  • Assign a static IP address to your printer. This can prevent the printer from losing its connection to the network. You can do this through your router’s settings by reserving an IP address for the printer based on its MAC address.

9. Check Router Settings

  • Ensure that your router firmware is up to date.
  • Check for any network settings that might be causing issues, such as firewalls or access controls that could block the printer’s communication.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
